We had another Sanford scare Thursday. We were all packed and in the car with all three of the animals, ready to come to Apex for the weekend when all of a sudden at the gas station on the way out of town Sanford proceeded to sneeze blood and then have a nosebleed. Of course we immediately turned around to head to the vet. There was blood all of the car and me. Barney and Molly were great in all the commotion and stayed quiet in the back of the car. We headed to the vet and were there for about an hour before we had to head off to the emergency vet down the street. Our vet was closing at 7 and did what they could for Sanford, but his nose would not stop bleeding. The plan was to have him stay overnight at the emergency vet so they could keep him for observation. We get to the emergency vet and they were nice enough but of course his nose is still bleeding two hours later. By now he has lost a lot of blood and is shaking so we are still very worried about him. We said goodbye and left him there planning to pick him up Friday AM. I go home and get in the shower because I look as if I've murdered someone and passed out on the couch around 11. Chris was not able to sleep so he was up all night. He came in at 4:30 AM to tell me the ER Vet had just called and Sanford was okay. His nose stopped bleeding around 1:30 AMish (it had started bleeding around 5:30) so he lost a lot of blood. The vet said they were checking on him often, he didn't seem that hungry as he didn't all of his food but he was very talkative. That is good news for us since that is his usual MO. We picked up a hoarse Sanford at 7 on Friday morning. I decided to head onto Apex because I still have a lot to do here before the move. Chris stayed in Wilmington just in case Sanford needed to go back to the vet. We plan on coming back to Apex next weekend over Easter break and that will be the last time I plan on coming home until probably Christmas. :(
I have decided to keep up with the blog and post every few days, even if no one reads it, it is theraputic to get out thoughts and write!
I am super excited to see Gill and Phillip, we have our first play date in our new house already set!!! It will be the first weekend we're in the new house so things will still be messy but we'll have the fenced in backyard for the dogs to play in. We can't wait!
